DAY 111

day111

As I mentioned earlier, lately I began to follow Michael Hartl’s RoR tutorial. I must say, it is the best tutorial ever. Why? Because it starts from zero point to the very end. Experiencing the whole thing is pretty cool and motivating.

I set my development environment, scaffold a crud page and used git through all the steps. Finally deployed a basic app to heroku. I’ll finish the all sections and try to learn RoR in more depth.

Also I am reading “7 habits of highly effective people” book. It is not about development as you guess. I am not so in to personal development books but I am really recommending it.

I started to create aniki cards as much as I can. Aristotl quoto from book, impressed me I think: ”We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

DAY 97

day97

Just finished watching Ruby on Rails 3 Essential Training from lynda. Kevin Skoglund is pretty good at teaching for beginners. I didn’t undertand all the material of course :) but it was nice to have a general knowledge about rails.

I think I watched and read enough to start some coding action. My next stop will be Ruby on Rails Tutorial by Michael Hartl. This tutorial contains everything from start to finish. I will code tutorial’s app and deploy it. Also I’ll try to write my own app along the tutorial.

Also found this great article about “using spaced repetition systems to learn and retain technical knowledge“. Make sure you read this.

See y’all.

DAY 91

day91

After 2 months, I’m back baby! So you think I gave up, don’t you? Mehhh kinda :) I lost my intensity. I have no excuse like work & money. I mean I think about these things but it would be lie to hide behind them.

In this last 2 months I learned lots of theoric stuff though. I am still working in the same software company as a designer. I must say it helped me a lot. I have this great opportunity that whenever I have a stupid question, I have somebody to ask.

Also reading hackernews daily. It is the greatest source for following this kind of stuff. When I first started to read it, I was like %10 understood %90 WTF. But now I can proudly say I can understand more than that and it is awesome :)

I don’t think that I can write everyday but I will keep you updated weekly.

Cheers

DAY 33

day33

When I was in university I had hard times as a student. Whenever I couldn’t studied properly I tend to skip exams. Eventually finished the 4 years long major in 7 years. Not proud of it.

After the 6th year, I began to attend all the exams even if I couldn’t study at all. It was kind of a self punishment. While people were answering the questions, I had a pretty good time to think in silence and feel the guilt. 4-5 exams with blank pages… and it turned out fine. I always think that, I answered some questions at that time. Maybe not on paper but on my mind.

So last week…  Somehow the part time job, turned fulltime (temporary situation). I write about these days too because they are bothering me. Maybe writing these days, can help me in some level. At least hope so.

Here we go: LAST WEEK WAS A TOTAL DISASTER FOR THE 10HC :)
